Hip-hop was originated by DJs who mixed together diverse genres to create innovative new rhythms. Hip-hop has since become a genre all her own, but DJ Petra and Genesis Be are getting back to the roots of the culture, investigating the connections between hip-hop music and her wide-reaching family tree: from Funk to Dancehall, Afro-Beat to Neo-Soul, Reggaeton to House. Join us every Friday at noon for special guest DJs, interviews with local musicians and live freestyle cyphers.
